Mrs. Fitzgerald’s middle school class was recently invited to Bergen Community College to receive a $1,000 grant from Bergen County Utilities Authority (BCUA).  The funds will be used to expand the current recycling program throughout the district, which empowers students to take a lead role in keeping the district “green.”  Mrs. Fitzgerald stated, “Our students have been very involved in researching the decomposition rates of various items before creating graphs and posters depicting the information.  The group also used these visuals during presentations to the North Arlington Middle School student body.”  Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Stephen Yurchak and principal of North Arlington Middle School, Ms. Nicole Russo were ecstatic with the progress being made.  Dr. Yurchak said, “Mrs. Fitzgerald’s students have taken such pride in their work and have done an excellent job in educating their peers about the importance of recycling.  We are all very proud of their accomplishments!”
