Eric McKenna, a senior at North Arlington High School, recently signed his National Letter of Intent, committing to continue his career as a student-athlete for Caldwell University, where he will be joining their baseball team. In his Viking career, McKenna, a pitcher and shortstop, accumulated three varsity letters in baseball, was named The Observer “Athlete of the Week” twice, was selected 1st team ALL-NJIC Meadowlands as a pitcher, and was the recipient of The Record’s “Male Athlete of the Week.” McKenna enters his senior year with 158 strikeouts, 8 career wins, and a 1.85 career ERA. McKenna, a three sport athlete, is also a member of the boys’ varsity soccer team and varsity bowling team, for which he has also been selected to the all-league teams in the previous season for both sports. McKenna is looking forward to joining the Cougars and wishes to pursue a major in finance. Head Baseball Coach, Paul Marcantuono stated, “I am proud of Eric and his decision to further his baseball career at Caldwell University. It is a great moment for the baseball program and the Viking family. He is one of the better pitchers in our area and deserves to be recognized. He is a special talent at shortstop as well.” Eric McKenna said, “I chose Caldwell University, because I liked the ‘small-school feel,’ similar to what I’ve experienced here at North Arlington High School.”
